Cyber Awareness in the Shropshire Business Community

Start Tech is on a mission to raise awareness of the importance of robust cyber security. We regularly get asked to provide talks at events. It’s a great way to provide businesses with useful tips and the latest advice to keep their businesses and organisations safe. We like to do it in an engaging and interactive way to remove the jargon, and provide sound advice that will strengthen any business.

Last week we were thrilled to run a Cyber Awareness event for SME’S ahead of the county’s biggest networking event – Shropshire Business Festival.

We invited business leaders from across the region to attend our session at Telford International Centre. We explored best practices for strong cyber hygiene and delved in to the benefits of AI.

As our event closed, the main festival opened, which was attended by around 830 people from the local business community. The Start Tech team ran a stand with a giant game of cybersecurity snakes and ladders, and we sponsored the seminar stage.

SBLTV’s Carl Jones compered the Start Tech seminar stage where there were talks from Tracy Sherratt – British Business Bank, Dr Pretty Basra – The Women Money Business Podcast, James Gough and Dougie Nicoll – Clear, Alan S. Adams – Horizon Consultants, Liza Freudmann – BLA Sustainability Strategy & Comms, Johnny Themans – Good2Great, and our MD, Ian Groves gave the closing seminar – looking at cyber security, and advocating the implementation of Cyber Essentials.

Some of the team finished off the event with some delicious networking at a VIP Pudding Club! It was a great day for making connections with local businesses and championing cyber security good practices.
