The Start Tech ‘Crack the Code’ safe proves to be a hit at Shrewsbury Food Festival.

This year we joined the Shropshire Festivals team as they celebrated their 10th year of the Shrewsbury Food Festival.

It was the first time we as a company have attended this style of event and the challenge for us was, how do we as an IT company stand out and draw a crowd at a food festival?

‘Crack The Code’ – A Free, interactive scavenger hunt-style game with a large Perspex safe filled with prizes to be won!

We sourced some great gifts from clients and local businesses such as ‘The Best Ale’ from Three Tuns Brewery, family tickets for the Telford Tigers, Cupcakes from Crystal’s Cupcakes, The finest seasonings from Maddie’s seasonings, vouchers for The Beefy Boys and £100 Amazon vouchers. Plus, we threw in a bit of Start Tech swag in the form of caps, phone holders and mugs.

How to win… the safe had a 4-digit pin code, and 3 of these codes were hidden around the festival site, using the treasure map supplied, the public had to go find the numbers and return to us for the 4th.
With all 4 numbers the task then was to work out the combination to unlock the safe, we find leave plenty of clues on the stand and on our website to help!

Throughout the weekend, we had 10 lucky winners! our ‘Crack the Code’ game was very popular, and we loved how many people interacted with us.
It wasn’t just about the game.

We also had the opportunity to educate people on cyber security and the importance of being cyber smart.

The final act of the weekend was the Start Tech live music stage, we proudly sponsored of music stage and had the pleasure of being entertained by some amazing bands on both days.

The team had a fantastic time and can’t wait for the next one!
